Whu... what happend?

I looked into my member account for my stats.... and... what should i say. It "steps back". Its now on a point like a day ago....

whats that? just a thing for a few minutes? or was something not right with my returned results so that they decreased my points again?

Hope i get my ~800 points back (if you have just about 4000 then 800 Points is a mass ^^)

Re: Whu... what happend?

Andrew,

This post is more appropriate for the member to member support forum so I have moved it here.

I'm starting to take a look at your account to see what is going on.

Re: Whu... what happend?

Andrew,

We have not removed any statistics from your account. You appear to have a pretty steady flow of daily stats that looks normal.

When did you check your stats and what were you comparing them to?

The website is updated with stats four times a day while the agent has its stats updated every time that it communicates with the server. So if you looked at your stats on the agent and then looked on the website the website can be behind in report your point totals.

Let us know at what times and where you checked your stats and what the difference is that you saw.

thanks,
knreed

Re: Whu... what happend?

okay, i checked my stats when i posted the upper post, and about two ours ago it had the right points (about ~4700) in the web, and then i checked and it were about 4000.

I know that the web is often behind the agent, but i never saw something like this that the WEB point stats begin to DECREASE (short: i compared 2x the web stats, and the last time there were less points than the first time).

if i look now on the agent, the points that are shown there are 4914 (the difference of about 200 points results from another unit which was already sent to the grid server about 6:20 hrs ago). For now the agents already working on a new unit (83%), so i will see in a few "moments" what happens to my agent-stats if the agent contacts to the grid server and exchanges the data.

Re: Whu... what happend?

btw: i found it interesting that the website tolds me

Statistics Last Updated: 05/24/2005 06:06:02 (UTC) [14 hour(s) ago]

the time where i visited and had more points, the web was more up-to-date (so it really uses an out-dated statistic)

Re: Whu... what happend?

another thing:

Last Result Returned (UTC) 05/22/2005 17:01:59 [51+ hour(s) ago]

this is just untrue. in these 51 hours, i sent at least 2 results to the grid server. the last one was about 6:30 ago.

Andrew,

Can you continue to watch this and let us know if this happens again? I suspect that you are experiencing a situation where the browser is caching a page and you are viewing the cached version rather then current version from the website (even better - clear out your browsers cache before refreshing the page if you know how to do this). I suspect this becuase the Statistics Last Updated field is the same for everyone on the website and we have not heard other reports of this problem (if anyone reading this has seen this field become more then 8 hours old please post below).

If you see this again can you do me a favor? Please take a screen print of the page and save it. Next use your browser's refresh button for the page and make sure that you have the most current version of the page. If it is still out of date then send us an email at support@worldcommunitygrid.org with the screen print.

thanks,
knreed

Re: Whu... what happend?

okay, no problem in deleting the cache.

for now, the statistics look good again.

btw: it occured several times (for me) that the stats was more that 8 hrs old, but the maximum i discovered was 14 hrs, but i can live with 14 hrs. Okay, the next time this occurs i try to fix it by deleting the cache. I will post here if it helps or not.

thank you so far,

Andrew

Re: Whu... what happend?

just btw @knreed: in your stats html-code you already use

<meta Http-Equiv="Cache-Control" Content="no-cache">
<meta Http-Equiv="Pragma" Content="no-cache">
<meta Http-Equiv="Expires" Content="0">

so, why is the browser caching (if this was the reason for that issue yesterday) the file anyway?
