6 days a day for mere mortals has arrived I checked Boincstats and no one has it on line yet. I am looking at one of these myself. Seems perfect for the task. |

Hypernova how much was the Core i7 980X Extreme Edition again? I am an intel addict since so many years that I won't change. But your question is legitimate. So here is my answer 1000 US$ retail price for 50'000 points per day at WCG in average and for 240 Watts consumption at wall socket for a single socket machine. Please note these processors run round the clock 24/7 non stop. The values here under are not theoretical, peak values under prototype conditions. They are measured and averaged over more than a month so they are reliable. If we take an acceptable 3 year amortization period then you have the following ratios: Investment cost 54'750 points/dollar Power rating 0.0048 watt/point Energy consumption 0.1152 watthour/point I am eager to see by how much these ratios are beaten if they are? ![]() ![]() |
