In a month or so we will have the first Intel 6 core CPU's coming out, at first the fast EE (Extreme Edition) then slower versions, then the Xeons versions for dual sockets.
----------------------------------------But what comes next. I have no clear picture if it is a 8 core, 12 core or more like the Larrabee in a smaller version. And will our X58 mobo's still work on a next generation or we have to consider that the CPU's coming in March will be the last ones on the X58 and for the next generation new mobos with new chipsets will be needed. ![]() |

Puleeeze-
----------------------------------------I had enough trouble getting my I7-920 to always have work. Actually, I am thinking of another one, a mobile I7 in a laptop. Still a wee bit pricey; but, that won't last. And, this time, I will know what to set as prefs, thanks to the great help I got last November with the first one. |

you can get a Intel snapshot at:
----------------------------------------http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_future_Intel_microprocessors http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Sandy_Bridge_(microarchitecture) http://www.intel.com/idf/full-agenda/ http://www.intel.com/products/processor/index.htm?iid=subhdr+prod_proc Xeon Octa cores with Beckton processors are away with some lucky guys testing it on quad sockets machines (plus HT) and so on, and there are more news on the sky from many others sources of information about Intel roadmaps, mainly gossips posted away by participants in last Intel Developer Forum and some meetings during 2009 with developers and manufacturers. Enjoy ! ![]()

Well the opposition has taken another step......

Would be sweet to crunch with 48 cores on one machine. ![]()
