I used to work with my personnal computer to get WU and make them on another computer where I can't upload results. Since somme times, all the results and the WU still to be calculated have a "detached " status when upload on my own computer. All points are lost.
It happens also with some WU on my own computer download 2/3 days ago. Is there a way to continue to use a second computer to make calculations and bring results back on the first one? |

When you play this sneakernetting game, you have to take the PC that connects to the internet off-line, exit BOINC complete, then do the copying.
----------------------------------------If your internet computer also runs BOINC, then you have to manage 2 installs on that system. Call them BOINCHere and BOINCThere or whatever. If you don't do it carefully, the servers will think the BINCHere detached from WCG and will deem there to be a new client connecting, thus marking the work on BOINCThere as lost (Detached). Search on Sneakernet and you'll find more discussions on the forums. Best done with client version 5.10.45. Can be done with 6.2 and up, but you need to know what you're doing. An member-expert doing this may want to pitch in.

Ahh, please don't stone me for resurrecting such an old topic.
IS there any other info on performing this? Specifically how do you install boinc as 2 installs on one computer, when I tried it, the install always seen the first one and gave me an option of remove or repair but never a new install w/o doing a complete uninstall of the existing first. Thank you |

A couple of years ago I posted how I used to crunch on a computer that didn't have an internet connection. Not sure if it is still relevant, or useful to you but I thought it may help.
