Have you just recently changed your profile to HPF2, say from one of the 'intermittent' projects?, if so, then it may not have actually taken effect.
----------------------------------------If this is the case, then there's some issue within the system at the moment, which, hopefully, someone is looking into... ![]() |

That would indeed be a likely cause... some played the options and got bitten... If there is nothing scheduled in Beta better have a good size cache and allow it to backfill every 24 hours... that would have bridged a longer server side fail of any kind [heck, now I still got into spilling how to extend the game]
----------------------------------------Now I'm zipping.

I need a bath, that's quite informative.
----------------------------------------What have you done and looked at to ascertain that there really is no work as the client may have developed a problem? If you post us the start up portion of the BOINC message log [30 lines] and the portion where the automated work request start to where the messages come to tell that nothing is being sent we can read what to expect and what the client is doing. ttyl PS: I changed to HPF2, increased my cache slightly and got work immediately for this project, maybe the feeder being busy to load more work. 23/02/2010 08:47:28 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] Starting scheduler request 23/02/2010 08:47:28 World Community Grid Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 23/02/2010 08:47:28 World Community Grid Requesting new tasks 23/02/2010 08:47:28 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] CPU work request: 21877.71 seconds; 0.00 idle CPUs 23/02/2010 08:47:33 World Community Grid Scheduler request completed: got 1 new tasks 23/02/2010 08:47:33 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] Server version 601 23/02/2010 08:47:33 World Community Grid Project requested delay of 11 seconds 23/02/2010 08:47:33 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] estimated total CPU job duration: 37842 seconds 23/02/2010 08:47:33 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] Deferring communication for 11 sec 23/02/2010 08:47:33 World Community Grid [sched_op_debug] Reason: requested by project 23/02/2010 08:47:35 World Community Grid Started download of ne010-019_ne015.fasta.gz 23/02/2010 08:47:36 World Community Grid Finished download of ne010-019_ne015.fasta.gz 23/02/2010 08:47:36 World Community Grid Started download of ne010-019_ne015.psipred.gz 23/02/2010 08:47:37 World Community Grid General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 13-Feb-2010 11:28:09) 23/02/2010 08:47:37 World Community Grid Computer location: home 23/02/2010 08:47:37 General prefs: using separate prefs for home 23/02/2010 08:47:37 Reading preferences override file 23/02/2010 08:47:37 Preferences: 23/02/2010 08:47:37 max memory usage when active: 2254.87MB 23/02/2010 08:47:37 max memory usage when idle: 2705.84MB 23/02/2010 08:47:37 max disk usage: 10.00GB 23/02/2010 08:47:37 (to change, visit the web site of an attached project, 23/02/2010 08:47:37 or click on Preferences) 23/02/2010 08:47:37 World Community Grid Finished download of ne010-019_ne015.psipred.gz 23/02/2010 08:47:37 World Community Grid Started download of ne010-019_ne015.psipred_ss2.gz 23/02/2010 08:47:39 World Community Grid Finished download of ne010-019_ne015.psipred_ss2.gz 23/02/2010 08:47:39 World Community Grid Started download of ne010-019_aane01503_05.075_v1_3.gz 23/02/2010 08:47:42 World Community Grid Finished download of ne010-019_aane01503_05.075_v1_3.gz 23/02/2010 08:47:42 World Community Grid Started download of ne010-019_aane01509_05.075_v1_3.gz 23/02/2010 08:47:46 World Community Grid Finished download of ne010-019_aane01509_05.075_v1_3.gz

There was a delay of several hours between the end of the nd9xx tasks and the beginning of the ne000x tasks, as far as I can see from my own systems.

OK, so there was a feeder busy moment. With a default of 0.3 day cache/additional buffer that would have bridged an unavailability of approx. 7.2 hours. When cache plus remaining time on work being processed is less than 0.3 days per core the client will start to try and backfill that gap periodically i.e. under normal circumstances, a client needs never to idle... for which then there is the recommended " if there is no work..." project selection tick box. Of course and active internet connection needs to be available.

The indexer got stuck with loading a large batch of FA@H work before getting to the new HPF2 work. The new work is there now.
As Sekerob mentioned, it is a good idea to have the "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project." option selected on the My Project page (https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyProjects.do) |

All right already! I was too tired to post all the details. I have a bunch of machines and none got this project for about 4 hours. I had plenty to do with other projects so I wasn't worried for myself. However, I thought since no one else had posted I would and I then went to bed for the night. SOrry for the fuss. Next time I will post " I get no work for THIS project".
----------------------------------------BTW I have no idea where to find the BOINC message log. BUt I will not ask as I know it is my job to read the FAQs!!! Have a nice day. EDIT: I found the message log but cannot copy paste from it. Windows XP boinc 6.2.28. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by I need a bath at Feb 23, 2010 12:25:18 PM] |

I need a bath,
----------------------------------------Sorry if my post appeared a bit strong. Both the BOINC Simple View and Advanced View have a button respectively a tab, which opens up to a window view of all currently logged messages. The wiki describing both interfaces is found here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/The_BOINC_Manager graphics by an erstwhile CA.
