Email notification options if a computer goes silent?

How about an option for WCG to email you if one of your devices goes silent and makes no contact with the server for a period of time that could be applied to all your devices or a per device "timeout email"?

Re: Email notification options if a computer goes silent?

That's difficult if the whole site is down... even twitter and facebook became unreachable to plant a message.

The next client will have better routines, but emailing with an unknown ETA? The cache default is 0.3 days, 7.2 hours which means current work, plus work ready to start being equal or greater than 7.2 hours. The down was somewhat over 6 hours.

There's a reminder mail but think that's for weeks and only if the whole account goes silent. Not when a single device does. Also there's a call-home counter of 48 hours, just to tell WCG if the client is ready and willin'.

But a mail, if possible ASA a fail occurs... tough call.

Re: Email notification options if a computer goes silent?

We are looking at changing the way we send emails in general. We will take a look at this option as we do that. We have had a request for this several times. It makes sense for the user with 3-4 computers who installs and doesn't check back in except for every 2-3 months. It doesn't make sense for the person who runs the university lab computers and has 100's of computers so it will have to optional but also done so that people know about it and use it.
