A Vista machine which has been running trouble free for several years has now had several instances where it runs out of work.
----------------------------------------If I manually update projects, or re-boot, I get new work. I just did both, I got some work from Leiden on the Update, and one WU from Einstein on the re-boot. Here are the messages on re-boot. 1/27/2010 10:30:18 AM Starting BOINC client version 6.10.18 for windows_intelx86 1/27/2010 10:30:18 AM log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 1/27/2010 10:30:18 AM Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3 1/27/2010 10:30:18 AM Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 1/27/2010 10:30:18 AM Running under account mitrich 1/27/2010 10:30:22 AM Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 6] 1/27/2010 10:30:22 AM Processor: 4.00 MB cache 1/27/2010 10:30:22 AM Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 pni mmx 1/27/2010 10:30:22 AM OS: Microsoft Windows Vista: Home Premium x86 Edition, Service Pack 2, (06.00.6002.00) 1/27/2010 10:30:22 AM Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 4.22 GB virtual 1/27/2010 10:30:22 AM Disk: 288.04 GB total, 178.34 GB free 1/27/2010 10:30:22 AM Local time is UTC -5 hours 1/27/2010 10:30:22 AM No usable GPUs found 1/27/2010 10:30:24 AM Not using a proxy 1/27/2010 10:30:26 AM rosetta@home URL http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/; Computer ID 749242; resource share 100 1/27/2010 10:30:26 AM Leiden Classical URL http://boinc.gorlaeus.net/; Computer ID 45761; resource share 100 1/27/2010 10:30:26 AM Docking URL http://docking.cis.udel.edu/; Computer ID 9028; resource share 100 1/27/2010 10:30:26 AM Einstein@Home URL http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/; Computer ID 1118344; resource share 100 1/27/2010 10:30:26 AM Milkyway@home URL http://milkyway.cs.rpi.edu/milkyway/; Computer ID 7594; resource share 100 1/27/2010 10:30:26 AM SETI@home URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID 4963576; resource share 100 1/27/2010 10:30:26 AM World Community Grid URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID 265605; resource share 200 1/27/2010 10:30:27 AM World Community Grid General prefs: from World Community Grid (last modified 08-Dec-2009 07:08:16) 1/27/2010 10:30:27 AM World Community Grid Computer location: home 1/27/2010 10:30:27 AM General prefs: using separate prefs for home 1/27/2010 10:30:27 AM Reading preferences override file 1/27/2010 10:30:27 AM Preferences limit memory usage when active to 818.09MB 1/27/2010 10:30:27 AM Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 1533.91MB 1/27/2010 10:31:02 AM Preferences limit disk usage to 30.00GB 1/27/2010 10:31:03 AM Suspending computation - initial delay 1/27/2010 10:32:18 AM Leiden Classical Restarting task wu_78596477_1259566726_125648_1 using classical version 556 1/27/2010 10:32:18 AM World Community Grid Starting HFCC_s1_02343738_s1_0000_0 1/27/2010 10:32:19 AM World Community Grid Starting task HFCC_s1_02343738_s1_0000_0 using hfcc version 610 1/27/2010 10:32:20 AM Docking Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 1/27/2010 10:32:20 AM Docking Requesting new tasks 1/27/2010 10:32:25 AM Docking Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks 1/27/2010 10:32:30 AM Einstein@Home Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. 1/27/2010 10:32:30 AM Einstein@Home Requesting new tasks 1/27/2010 10:32:35 AM Einstein@Home Scheduler request completed: got 1 new tasks 1/27/2010 10:32:37 AM Einstein@Home Started download of skygrid_1090Hz_S5R5.dat 1/27/2010 10:32:40 AM Einstein@Home Finished download of skygrid_1090Hz_S5R5.dat |

mitrichr, you know the drill... looking at the DCFs, checking the <time_stats> are not funked up, any deferral counters running in the project tab, buffer settings, connection interval etc... with 6.10.18 I'm not too convinced as to the robustness of the scheduler with your mix of projects, but that's another matter, at least your 2 core client seems busy on both plus an extra job in the queue.
----------------------------------------PS: For laughs, yesterday had 3 of 4 cores on the Q6600 reported as idle, 1 very small weight project fetching work, whilst all cores were actually busy with 1.75 days of work in the buffer... sorry I can't take 6.10 through .29 very serious in the priorities department. It does not even know at all times what's running even when it sits in the same shared memory sandbox.
