after nearly three weeks of suffering, i think the new server and the new network switch, and the new modem, and the new router, and the new line from the isp are all in place and working. i should finally be able to settle down to my normal lower 20s each day instead of jumping erratically from 13,000 to 45,000. at least my machines were still able to crunch while they couldn't report. this is one of the reasons i changed to the full 10 days of work downloaded instead of the default 0.25 days. it has saved me having idle computers more than once this also means i will be able to be online more with little to do except check in with the greatest team the world has ever known, MOT it also means that i can settle comfortably into 4th place on our team and not worry about catching anyone or being passed until the good doctor blows by me (only 13,000,000 to go doc). it's good to be back ![]() It most definitely is! What DIDN'T get replaced? To borrow a bit of the spirit from the Irish, may your CPU compute forever, your fans hum in chorus, and the heat of your crunching keep your heart warm! ![]() as far as i know we didn't replace the cat5. but that's all. i wish i could run boinc on windows server 2008, but it won't install on a server. bummer. ![]() In Memory of Dave Bell |

Good Morning Everyone.
---------------------------------------- I guess most of us waste a bunch of time watching Football today. I will root for the Saints and the Colts. And keep an eye on Tom's hardware. Believe it or not, I am in the middle of a build. ![]() |

Good Morning, MOT.
----------------------------------------I forgot that Microsoft pushed an emergency patch out on Thursday. My computers installed the patch, restarted and have been sitting around idle for the last three days! I should probably let BOINC run in the background on those computers that I don't log into very often...

I should probably let BOINC run in the background on those computers that I don't log into very often... Really? I though the usual security update was on Tuesday and Thursday was the IE7 patch. Must have been that one as it did strike me as unusual since there was the patch on Tuesday. I have my machines set to download but not auto install, mainly for the reason you ran into, plus I like to see what they're pushing first. When I see it flagged on one machine, I go do them all even if it hasn't gotten flagged on the rest yet. Edit: You could install BOINC as a service on those machines as well. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by keithhenry at Jan 25, 2010 12:54:04 AM] |

Is anyone watching 24?
----------------------------------------Seems like a pretty good one, this year. Hopefully, it won't be as PC as last year...

Not because I'm from Texas, it's because of the cheerleaders! ![]()
