Haiti completely devastated by earthquake
----------------------------------------The most powerful quake to hit in 200 years leaves a grim scene of bodies and crushed buildings ... You have heard the news. Yes, unfortunately their government has not been effective for years, yet their citizens are dying (many are dead) and/or are greatly suffering. So call you favorite charity and give. In a few minutes (they open at 8 Pacific Time), I will be calling Direct Relief. Forbes Magazine has given them very high marks based on the extremely high percentage of their collections to "get through" the right folks. There are noted for being stellar in the area of Medical supplies and support (which Haiti needs at this moment). So choose one. For those of you living in North America, I like the fact that Direct Relief does not have a toll free number. So many Charities around the Globe; it's time to make the call. Contact Information: Direct Relief International 27 S. La Patera Lane Santa Barbara, CA 93117 Phone: (805) 964-4767 Fax: (805) 681-4838 Press Contact: Jim Prosser Manager, Media Relations (805) 964-4767 Directions to Direct Relief To visit Direct Relief International take the 101 Freeway to the Fairview Exit in Goleta. Follow the overpass south to Hollister Avenue. Turn right on Hollister and right again at the second stoplight, La Patera Lane. Follow La Patera to the Amtrak station. Just before the train station on the left is Direct Relief International headquarters. Open from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday. http://www.directrelief.org/ |
