My computer has a system fan that is not operating so I went to the manufacturer (HP) since they seem to be the only one who carries a fan of the correct size. My problem is the fan will not be delivered until 12/8 at the earliest, and I have a time due on many of the WUs of 12/9. What can I do to change the time due on some of the WUs to a later date and can it be done with a different computer that the one it is scheduled to run on?Thanks for any help, Dave |

Best to abort and send back before they expire and WCG will send out to someone else..

I got my system fan yesterday and put my quad processor back online as soon as I got home from work. I just checked and I only have 2 WUs left to complete by 2300 hours (2342 actually) so I should be in good shape as far as getting all the work completed on time. I can switch to receiving the CMD2 work from the HFCC work now. |

Might I suggest reducing your cache so you are not stretched to the limit of when the WUs need to be returned by?

When I am not able to complete the WUs in time, they get marked in error and sent to another, and they get removed from my list of active tasks. I have had some WUs terminated by the server (Server Aborted) and a small number I did abort. Things do seem to be catching up although when I have a WU executing and it gets marked as No Reply, it does get changed to Valid when it completes.

What is the size of your cache?

It is normal if your result comes back to the server before the replacement WU. But the best would be to avoid being so late. Think of reducing your cache size. Cheers. Jean. |

As I had initially said, the whole reason for any of this happening is my system fan bit the dust and my computer was offline from Wednesday through Tuesday when I finally got the replacement. There is nothing to be considered regarding the size of the cache since with the computer being out for a week until a replacement part could arrive resulted in falling behind on the work I had in the queue.

OK, I had forgotten why you had the problem, so everything is fine for you.
----------------------------------------But I read so many messages of people caching as many WUs as possible during the time of this thread (not too many here, fortunately) that I thought the reminder could be useful to a few of them anyway. Happy crunching. Jean. |
