At 00:00,
----------------------------------------81'000'000 Euros have been donated. It looks like, it is very much ! ... ... indeed it is not enough for supporting some important research projects. You should not hesitate to visit donate.telethon.fr . Each year, the Telethon gives new reason to hope for the children and their Family. In advance, thank you all for your support. Cheers, Yves |

That's really good to hear that the telethon raised a lot of money for the research.
Was there any mention of the Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy project or World Community Grid during the telethon? |

Not as far as I know, but I have not finished viewing/scanning the 30 hours of programs (that's much...).
----------------------------------------Anyway from the team's stats there has been only a very little increase in member registrations on Sunday and Monday, far from what it would have been if there had been a specific call for new members. For AFM's chairwoman money is critical for being able to keep all started projects going on and scientists paid, and she fears that mentioning the Decrypthon project distracts people from donating. I think she is wrong and that HCMD2 is indeed helping participants to think of this cause all year long instead of only during two days, and thus they know why their money is necessary too. But I can understand her anxiety with such a budget, and although this year's total is still impressive (90+ M€) it is about 5 M€ less than last year. Fortunately when all operations are complete the final total is usually 5-10 % higher than the official number when the TV programs stop. |
