Dr. Mike, that i7 is really cooking for you! Vuj has really cranked it up lately too. Meowpao, what's up over on your side of the big pond? Gerald, I see you have the GPU crunching again.

Hey parmesian, how goes the server issues?

Surely you can tell by my large points these past few days. crying

they told me everything would be better by tuesday and it's friday and it's not better (maybe a little bit, but not enough to make a difference).

I took the opportunity to upgrade my newest vista machine to windows 7 and i think i like it. it doesn't hurt that i got windows 7 ultimate 64bit for $30. gotta love those student discounts that are available for anyone who has an email address that ends in .edu (like the one i have from my alumni association).

i have a couple of my computers on the network that were set to load 10 days worth of work, so hopefully when we get back online i will have a whole lot of work to send in. laughing

hope it's not too late to get credit for it all.

Man.. that would be a shame to lose the work units contribution and the points that go along with it.

I used to be one of those IT guys that everyone wants to blame for things. nerd Of course when I was doing it, the problems were all with the "DEUs" (Defective End Users) or of the BCK (Between the Chair and Keyboard) kind.

Now that I am out of the business, the quality of support has deteriorated enormously. Lets see...where is the tongue in cheek smiley?

You forgot the SDEV (stupid/sloppy developers) problems. There are two types of folks that would go into IT today - fools and idiots. I really feel for those stuck in the field these days.

Oh, I don't think so. I know a young man who is going into this field. He is very sharp at finding bugs in others programs. He is learning that it is also important to know how to fix those bugs. He is working at being competent in both software and hardware. He is highly cognizant of the maxim to do it right the first time, write it for the correct hardware, and make it as bullet (and idiot) proof as possible. I wish him well.

Cheers
