Because TW is bigger and has more points it just makes logical sense that everyone at MOt should join TW so we can chase down Slash before the project ends..

Here are 2 relatively small teams, MOT & TW, with 172 (#22) and 697 (#2) members compared to 3354 (#1) at SlashDot .. which, even combined, as Graham said is barely 25% the size of SlashDot .. and yet believing they can take the challenge to /.
Now that's competitiveness for you .. I don't know how the full stats compare but as TKK's comments made me curious, I took a look at the figures from the start of May. In the last 16 days /. have been averaging 531,270 points per day compared to 547,844 for MOT+TW. As much as this may give rise to optimism, we are only catching them at the rate of 16,574 per day and with 69,569,885 points behind .. we are looking at well over 11 years to pass them I'm sure most members of both teams will want to keep their own team identities and stats, and therefore will not agree to an amalgamated 'MOTW' team. Having said that, IF the WCG can give us some basic ADDITIONAL daily stats for such a 'combined team', it sure would set things off. The forums will be buzzing with recruitment drives and friends / family will be bribed to get additional crunchers for the claw back of all time .. would be great to see .So can anyone catch /. before the HPF project ends I hear you asking .. the next 4 teams (IBM Corp, IBM Rochester, TW & MOT) combined certainly can . Here are the numbers (again from the start of May). 'Next4' is averaging 833,689 points per day (compared to the 531,270 for /. mentioned above). So catching /. at the rate of 302,419 and just 19,081,568 behind, that's only 63 days of crunching ![]() |

Well, if it would happen, it would also give team /. a good excuse to post on it`s frontpage again. That, and a new linux client could trigger an influx of new members and more curnchers!
In the mean time, crongratulations to the top 5 teams for upping their rates continuously! |
