What's up with Best Buy?

I don't mean to start a war here, but what's up with this?

http://www.myfoxtwincities.com/dpp/news/best-...al-adha-black-friday-2009

Just for the record, I'm not shopping there again.... Best Buy won't even post signs that have the word "Christmas" on it!

I still remember 9/11 very vividly. Ft. Hood was only a few weeks ago. This country is not liked by a very specific group of people and their intentions are very well known. Are we really this stupid?

Global warming is a proven hoax, the PC movement is dead, and this country is literally falling apart.

I really don't want to start a flame war, I just want my country back.

Re: What's up with Best Buy?

I don't have any problem with the greeting but as you said it BETTER say Merry Christmas around that holiday! I used to work at Best Buy several years ago and do not patronize them anymore, at all. That is a personal thing, I just don't like the management or how they treat their people. They made promises to us and then when we met the goals, they backed out of the promise.

Re: What's up with Best Buy?

It's not PC in America to say Merry Christmas anymore. You have to say Happy Holidays :(
We can't have Christmas parties at work. We have to have Holiday parties. I understand why it's like this. That doesn't mean I have to agree with it.
I love those bumper stickers that say its called CHRISTmas for a reason. I need to get one.
I can't stand it when people put "Merry X-Mas" on things.
They're taking Christ out of Christmas.
I totally agree that America is falling apart. Too busy trying to be PC they are totally ignoring what the country was built on.
Ugh. I'm getting depressed thinking about this. Time to move on to another thread.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

Re: What's up with Best Buy?

The last time I was in that place I was trying to look for something and could not concentrate. A nearby telephone kept ringing and ringing and ringing and ringing .....

After a little while I went over and answered it. "This is a customer. Nobody works here." Four Best Buy employees/associates came running over to grab the receiver out of my hand and I went away empty-handed and didn't buy anything either.

I haven't been back, even though there is $2 left on a gift card.

I love those bumper stickers that say its called CHRISTmas for a reason.
The reason is that previous uses for December 25 would not fit on the sticker.
December 25 already hosted two other related festivals: natalis solis invicti (the Roman "birth of the unconquered sun"), and the birthday of Mithras, the Iranian "Sun of Righteousness" whose worship was popular with Roman soldiers. The winter solstice, another celebration of the sun, fell just a few days earlier. Seeing that pagans were already exalting deities with some parallels to the true deity, church leaders decided to commandeer the date and introduce a new festival.
Blame Emperor Constantine for that, usurping previous festivals.

Adding an * with this footnote wouldn't fit either.
In accordance with the old Julian calendar, the Russian Orthodox Christmas is celebrated on 7 January, thirteen days after the Western Christmas on 25 December.

If the shepherds were watching their flocks by night when this happened, it could have been in April.

Personally I think it is much like the old pendulum , it swings one way and then people get mad and it stops and starts to go back the other way. Unfortunately it will never stop in the middle, I think it will go so far the other way that we will have another problem with freedom of religion but hopefully not too much of a problem. I have no problems with either saying Merry Christmas or people who prefer not to say it, but don't tell me how to say it! I believe if you want to say it, say it, if you don't then don't. And yes I understand how businesses don't want to offend people, but darn it they are offending people by not saying it! I guess it is a no win situation for businesses but if they would just acknowledge each Holiday in turn, then no one would be offended! Except the people that think no Holiday is okay to acknowledge, and then you just can't please everyone all the time!

Maybe, all year long, "Happy whatever you like!"
In addition that would save a lot of signs. laughing

So all Muslims hate America? Nice hasty generalization.

Global warming is a proven hoax

Really? Prove it.

Re: What's up with Best Buy?

Nickoli:

I'm sorry that you have been deceived by the "climate scientists", who have been manipulating the temperature data to provide the graph you attached to your post.

Here is a graph containing dropped data in red. The data was manipulated so that it would not show the currently occurring cooling trend. This data became available from the recent intrusion into CRU servers, becaue CRU would not provide the data in response to freedom of information (FOI) requests. (Wonder why),

Now, can we get back to the topic of this thread, which was "What's Up With Best Buy"? I believe there is a current "greenies" thread for continuing climate discussions.
