Recurring error with wcg_rice_6.17_windows_intelx86
I keep getting a recurring error "wcg_rice_6.17_windows_intelx86 has incountered a problem and needs to close."

Any problems with other projects? What BOINC version and OS version? Can you please post your BOINC log?

From the first post the OS is XP SP3,

Try using the latest version of Boinc.
Also check your CPU temperatures.

I am running the latest version of Bionic for Windows XP 6.2.28
I don't get this error every time, but several times a week and no other project gives me errors.

This bit seems a bit odd,
(won't finish in time) Computer on 100.0% of time, BOINC on 0.0% of that.
Normally BOINC will be on for about 90% of the time, not 0.0%
That said, you did upload finished tasks and download new tasks.
I would suggest you lower the amount of tasks that are cached by the Boinc:
Open your Boinc Manager client (on your local system) in Advanced View,
Open Advanced, Preferences, network usage, and lower the additional work buffer.
I normally keep mine at 0.2 days as I have broadband that it always on. This prevents tasks being cancelled by the server because they will not finishing on time.

I also see that you have configured Boinc to suspend work when user is active. In most circumstances this is not neccessary as Boinc tasks are given low CPU priority, especially on a quad core system. Keeping tasks in memory is usually a good idea too, as long as you have 2GB, or more, RAM and dont use any massive applications.

It is possible that the rice work units that failed were from a bad batch of tasks, or that you had another program running that interfeered with it - for example an application started running in the background looking for updates and then used an area of RAM and did not close it.

If it keeps happening report it again and one of the experts on Boinc tasks will probably give you some advice after looking into it.

This has greatly reduced the frequency of this error, but it still happens occasionally, and on only on this one computer.
