Democracy - you just can't beat it

Great - I'm so glad I was asked to share my opinion on who the European President should be.

I'm sure the people of Belgium, my work buddies, will be happy tomorrow having voted for their leader to find he's been removed from office.

Superb the Brits are now ruled by 2 leaders in whom we have had no say

laughing

Democracy - you just can't beat it ;-)

Oh no he's just mentioned that "Climate issues are threatening our very survival"

crying

Yes, we see it... still the ever happy camper... you're free to leave the mainland, take the newly, undemocratically appointed Bwitish 'vice' Barones Ashton, from Upholland with you and start a petition to vote the English out of the EU. This way we will really have a 1 currency union.

Re: Democracy - you just can't beat it

You couldn't make it up Sek

Not sure how an unelected Prime Minister can sign a treaty which he agreed to ratify without asking the population he represents (sneaking in the back door after everyone else had left to put his moniker on the paper) which creates Mr Obama's opposite number in the United States of Europe in whom we (everyone in in the EU) have had no say whatsoever

Then we have the cheek to claim other Democracy's (some of which our Soldier's daily sacrifice their lives for) are corrupt and should clean themselves up

Yours live from the heart of Brussels

Did I?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurozone

Reads to me like 9 of them, except the inglish do want to be EUROpean nations and the Danes, they will too. So to repeat, with the Inglish out we will really have a 1 currency union in the EU.

Re: Democracy - you just can't beat it

It get's better

Speaking with my Belgian Colleagues this morning (who are in a very bleak mood about the future of Belgium) it turns out that Herman van Rompuy only became Prime Minister of Belgium on the second time of asking by the Belgian King after http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007%E2%80%932008_Belgian_political_crisis

So not even the Belgian's had a say.... Van Rompuy was appointed PM by a temporary Monarchy

The Belgian Metro free newspaper has the wonderful tongue in cheek headline

YES HE CAN

Just when you have abandoned all hope you find out that the Baroness has never been a Member of Parliament

and that the Baroness was made Baroness to replace "Lord" Peter Mandelson

Re: Democracy - you just can't beat it

The EU strikes me as a modern day version of our old pre-Constitution confederation days. If you want to be able to vote for a President, you need to be on the other side of the pond Dave! wink
