Re: How to connect BOINC behind "Automatic Configuration Script" PROXY ?

Guys, I'm thankful for your support. I just want to update that at the end I couldn't solve this issue with the darn* Automatic Configuration Proxy.

However, as a workaround I was able to get a different proxy address from out IT department, a regular (proxy.domain.com:8080) and configure it in the Network preferences in the WCG client (removed BOINC version).

Now all works. I even installed Intel i7 920, an 8 core beast at work so this now works beautifully and I'm no longer ashamed that me, the leader of the biggest Israeli WCG group doesn't have WCG running on his i7 :)

I'm just wondering what is the difference between the BOINC client to the WCG client, as the BOINC seems to be more updated, but does it runs\calculate packets faster ?

Re: How to connect BOINC behind "Automatic Configuration Script" PROXY ?

hmmm removing the Berkeley version and using the WCG kit... yep, not the first time we hear this.

BOINC is just a grid manager, nothing more. The science apps provided by the projects do the work. There's no difference except when Berkeley called it a day right around version 6.2.18, WCG required more fixes to e.g. the proxy which is why it's 6.2.28. Meantime WCG is working at adopting 6.10... whilst Berkeley is racing through versions. When the code stabilizes, WCG will organize a WCG grid related beta, just to make sure that also the large partners, schools, colleges will be able to upgrade with the least hassle.

So BOINC releases are kinda "BETA" for the WCG official client :)
Thanks for clearing this up.
