New machine for the project.

I've always worked on the Aids and cancer projects but when this one was introduced it reminded me of images I've seen of children in cancer wards.
Seeing pics of kids with bald heads from chemo grabs your heart in a way i can't describe.
This should help put a dent in the work to be done.

Hope the future comes soon.

Re: New machine for the project.

Thanks guys..
I get lucky once in a while on hardware and I kid you not it brings me joy to get this stuff working on the project.
I won't say it's an obsession but lets call it a focus of my middle years.
Now if I can figure a way to get around the locked BCLK's that are designed into all the dual socket 1366 boards we can get these cpu's up to the speeds they are easily capable of and get a heck of a lot more work done.
If anyone knows any Intel engineers that have answers to this have them PM me over at the Xs forum.

So that I don't make any of the Intel people upset I'm not posting any benchmarks but I think it's ok to say a few generalities:
I had a pair of W5590's in this same system.
They ran at 3458mhz( 8 cores/16 threads) 143.8W cpu at that speed. Made app 52,000PPD
These(110.8W at 2660) run at almost 800mhz slower(2660) take less elec from the wall, run app 20C cooler and bluntly, kick the living heck out of the numbers of the W5590's..
Yea, they have a real winner here.

Hard to tell after just one day but it looks like it's claiming app 79,800 and depending on which finished WU I look at it's getting between 62,000-65,000PPD..
If we can find a work around on the BCLK issue and get it up near 4000mhz then you'll see some impressive numbers.
The cpu's will do it, just need the board to let it happen.
If I could get my hands on a adjustable bios(vcore, vdimm,VTT,etc) then I'd water cool it and I think 4500 for 24/7 work would be doable.
At 4500 this would pull an easy 100K a day.

Cool! So the 6 cores are out. Perhaps I am the last to know as last month bought i7 3.33 4 core.

Re: New machine for the project.

judson .. those CPUs are not out in retail yet.
MM sometimes gets beta hardware and gets everything tested up and analysed so we can get right into crunching when they are released :kudos:
