Just south a few miles from Kingsland Texas:
----------------------------------------http://lostcreekvineyard.com/home.html -- I have yet to visit it (an inexcusable injustice soon to be rectified). But the one below is a favorite of mine. They have a very inexpensive Chenin Blanc that I really like: http://www.fcv.com/ While many will poo-poo the suggestion, my perhaps unsophisticated palette tells me that the wines from this area rival those of the Napa Valley and Europe. It is not like I have not tried them while there, just that these wines are excellent as well. It would seem to me that winemaking used to be an art/craft that was quite difficult to learn and practice successfully. Now it seems to me that it has gotten to be more of a science with even the less-expensive wines being quite good. Or perhaps it is just me and the dwindling sensitivity of my palette. Anyway, you can get a notion of the character of the area from these websites. A mix of back-home country living and some of the finer things ...just hop over the barbed-wire fence. Is it Kingsland that is the Team or is it the Vineyard that is the team?
