sad Not communicating (resolved)
BOINC is not communicating with the server and I am sitting with 21 "Ready to report" work units. There are 4 tasks working and about another 20 "Ready to start".

I have tried clicking on "Do network communication", but that isn't doing anything. In the bottom of the BOINC window it says "Connected to localhost" like it always has.

Yesterday, I uninstalled version 6.10.17 of BOINC, because it did not appear to be running as a service. I wasn't getting any results when I wasn't logged in. I reinstalled version 6.2.28 and now have the communication problem.

Any suggestions?

Firstly, have you tried rebooting both your machine and your router/modem?, as that may clear things.

Secondly, to help us investigate what the issue is, once you've restarted your system and checked as to whether it'll communicate or not, please can you add in your BOINC message log into this chat - basically, so we can see as to what the error messages are...

The OS is Vista 32 bit. The computer was restarted yesterday afternoon, as it always is on weekdays. No other problems with internet connections.

What's your buffer size? Looks like they all uploaded OK. If you click on projects --> update it should clear out the RTRs.

I have no idea what happened.

Most probably the Duration Correction Factor (DCF) has been pushed upward by one (or more) HCMD2 task upon its completion and until it went down and/or several WUs completed the client had no need to request new work.

Next time it happens force an Update from the Projects tab of the Advanced view: normally "Ready to Report" tasks will be reported after a few seconds. Then look at your message log if you find a line saying
Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting x completed tasks
that will confirm that the client does not need work.

Also note that the client will not request work if you have one or more tasks "Suspended" in your queue.
