I recently updated the Boinc client to version 6.10.17 on my G5 PPC under Leopard. But now I get this unauthorized user message that will not allow the program to run.
I am running this same Boinc client on my MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard without issues on the same network. I uninstalled all elements related to Boinc on the G5 and reinstalled the software. No joy. Then I repaired permissions. Still does not work. I guess I'll give up on the G5 if I can't find a solution. |

Don't have a mac, but two things to look for is, are you running as Administrator, and have you tried re-booting the mac since upgrading BOINC.

Yes on both counts. Nothing seems to work with this new version on the G5 Power PC.
Perhaps the new client runs only on Intel chips now? But I doubt that is the issue. I have nearly 100 applications and have used them all at one time or another in Leopard on the G5 without ever encountering this issue. |

Well, according to system requirements, it should work with G3 - G5, so this shouldn't be a problem... But, maybe there are an access-rights problem in the Mac-version, since the v6.10.18-version includes this: Charlie 4 November 2009 - Mac Installer: set most files in BOINC Data directory world-readable Unfortunately at this point only windows-version is available. Since v6.10.17 doesn't seem to work, does the older v6.6.36 work? ![]() "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |

V6.6.36 does work, but I don't know where to download it from. Does someone have a link?
Thanks, Ted PS V6.10.17 works perfectly on a MacBook Pro with this version running in OS 10.6.2. |
