Any chance that BOINC will work running 64 threads at a time?
----------------------------------------32 cores with HT. Or if not, any chance that this can be added into BOINC? Thanks ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Movieman at Nov 6, 2009 7:19:40 PM] |

What kind of Monster are you building/testing now? ![]() More of seeing if it will work on WCG and BOINC first before I get into building it.. One of those deals where someone said to me " Would you be interested in xxx" and I said HMMM.. Lets just say it's 2011 tech and when you get that far in advance there are many pitfalls. Support for everything is non existant and you either figure it out yourself or it doesn't work but it looks possible at this point. Think a single machine that should do 200,000 WCG points per day if my math is correct. ![]() |

Thanks You´d have the second active system with 64 threads: 1 Intel(R) Core(tm)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 16(64) Microsoft Windows Vista 23,424,488 0 0 0 4,737 - http://de.boincstats.com/stats/boinc_host_sta...b10538164978903c0b50a775b Discussions on these forum indicates a 96 cores system was previously seen. |

Movieman,
I don't believe there is a limitation on how many cores you can run, just make sure you have enough RAM to support all the individual processes running. -Uplinger |

Movieman, I don't believe there is a limitation on how many cores you can run, just make sure you have enough RAM to support all the individual processes running. -Uplinger BOINC Advanced Preferences Disk and memory usage [X] Leave applications in memory while suspended. If this parameter is checked, leave room in memory for some more, in addition to the number of workunits for each core. For example, if a high priority workunit runs with a 1 day due date, another one will wait [in memory if checked] until it is finished.

Maybe I can read one of your reviews (always very informative). ![]() |

Done.Pecos: I don't think you'll see a review on this if it gets done. The parts involved won't be at retail till 2011 at least and having me post benchmarks might shall we say piss off the cpu manufacturer. No need to make enemies. I just want to get the work done and I get the side benefit of working with new tech. A win-win for me. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Movieman at Nov 6, 2009 7:25:26 PM] |
