Hi Guys, I'm 100% sure this has been asked before, but I just can't find info anywhere.
----------------------------------------I downloaded the BOINC client for Linux, and ran it from it's folder for a while. Then, a few days ago, I reinstalled my PC, deleting the BOINC folder with it... When I got it up and running again, it downloaded new jobs and now the ones I was working on are in limbo, they are still marked as 'In Progress' on the site, but I have no way of finishing them. Is there any way I can download them to get them done by the 'Due Date'? What happens if the due date passes? Thanks a million, Shane [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 5, 2009 12:41:36 AM] |

No way to get them back.\
Once they pass their Due Date they will be marked as Too Late and then re-issued to someone else with a short deadline of 4 days instead of 10. Next time you need to reset your machine, if you can't wait to let the WUs finish please "Detach" from the project which will abort all in progress WUs on your machine and reissue them immediatley instead of having to wait for the due date to pass. |

Basically, the system will take care of it.
----------------------------------------All those WU's you've got against your userid, albeit, you can't finish, will be redistributed to other members and crunched there once they become past their 'due date'. ![]() |

Next time you need to reset your machine, if you can't wait to let the WUs finish please "Detach" from the project which will abort all in progress WUs on your machine and reissue them immediatley instead of having to wait for the due date to pass. Just detaching won't tell the project anything has been aborted by client. You'll either need to manually abort all tasks on client and afterwards report this to project (remember to set "no new work"), or, detach and immediately afterwards re-attach. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. Just detaching won't tell the project anything has been aborted by client. I think it does ... I have seen it do so ... I just had an unfortunate hard crash a couple of days ago (graphics card) that really hosed up my system and when it rebooted it "Detached" from WCG and GPUGrid ... all WUs are listed on both sites as "Detached" I did not manually abort anything so I really do think that Detaching sends a message to the server telling it that the host is done and the server should reissue the WUs to new clients. The BOINC-client never even tries to make a connection to a project when you detachs from it. If you don't believe me, just test-it out yourself, by detaching, wait for some time, and check the web-site and see the tasks is still marked as "in progress". A task is marked "detached" if either: 1: User detachs and later re-attachs, and scheduling-server detects it's the same computer. Tasks is marked "detached" on the re-attach, not the time you detached. 2: User restores an old backup-copy of their BOINC-client. #2 most commonly happens on CPDN, there tasks is marked as "detached", but the restored model still gets run to the finish successfully. ![]() "I make so many mistakes.
