Re: [RESOLVED] Not connected to a client - perpetually Starting client services, please wait...

An upgrade to version 6.6.38 seems to have solved the problem. I have gone through several reboots (including cold boots) and unlike using the repair function of the installer to repair my prior version, this didn't return to the problem on the next reboot. So, if you run across this same problem it appears that upgrading to a newer version could fix it - at least in did for me. Note: I do not do an uninstall first. I just let the new version installer install over the top of my existing installation.

P.S. - I would have long ago already upgraded from the version 6.2.28 I was running to the version 6.6.38 I just installed if I had know I was running such an old version. Why doesn't BOINC periodically check and inform you of updates like almost every other major application in the world???

Because 6.2.28 is a WCG release, it will only tell you if WCG endorses a new release, which it has not as 6.6 is not fully matured... WCG targets 6.10 as the next upgrade release, when happy.

Anyway, glad you spend the time to get a working state. Pity you went to 6.6.38 as... yes, Berkeley is now on 6.6.41.
