Is there a howto somewhere? I searched the forums and couldnt find anything.

Can you tell us what version you're trying to install. On Vista the WCG 6.2.28 installs quite transparently, service for the core client and ideally C:\ProgramData\BOINC for the data dir, or to any other drive.
----------------------------------------There's a long Vista dedicated FAQ in the Start Here forum but that lost pretty much it's meaning when 6.2.28 came. Mind you, you need admin rights to install as service. You havethat of course.

----------------------------------------Solution: I deactivated "Benutzerkontosteuerung"* in vista for the duration of the installation.Worked perfect that way.Important to activate it again afterwards !!!!!!!!!!! * Sorry - No idea whats it called in english - Its the security "feature" in Vista. UserAccountControl... UAC http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Account_Control aka BKS http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_Account_Control . Hmmm never had too. Whenever I want to install something on Vista I go to find it in the File Explorer, right click on it and choose to execute as administrator. That you need to be allowed installing as a service.
