i just tried to to upgrade to 6.6.38 from 6.6.36 my xp sp2 computer just tries to connect to the local host and never does. I tried restarting the router/ computer. downgrading back to 6.6.36( that didn't help either) I also tried older versions and putting in nothing in the select computer line. any thought or other things i should try?

To be sure, can you confirm in your Task/Process Manager that BOINC.exe and 1 or more WCGxxxx processes are running.
----------------------------------------Likely your permissions controlled by the Firewall and AV. Have a look in their logs. Port 31416, 80 and 443 have to be open and IP 127.0.0.1, localhost. Plz see the Start Here FAQ's and Help for more on this.

Try exiting BOINC Manager and re-starting BOINC Manager, and see if this fixes this... There was checked-in a bug-fix for this yesterday, so a new client v6.6.41 (or later) will maybe be released later this week... ![]() "I make so many mistakes. And that is a recommended version ? Let's not bring alpha or beta up unless found a cause.
----------------------------------------spudly, unless you do GPU crunching you don't need 6.6. WCG will in due cause advise when they think 6.10 is ready and until then will stick to 6.2.28 for windows. thanks

And that is a recommended version ? Let's not bring alpha or beta up unless found a cause. Well, problems with BOINC Manager connecting has been reported with multiple v6.10.xx-builds, but AFAIK not with v6.6.38 except the last couple days there's been a couple reports on different project-forums... With no reports of any problems with v6.6.xx, detecting there is a bug is very difficult... spudly, unless you do GPU crunching you don't need 6.6. WCG will in due cause advise when they think 6.10 is ready and until then will stick to 6.2.28 for windows. It seems he's running GPUGRID, so... ![]() "I make so many mistakes. boinc.exe and boincmgr are running it isn't running any jobs because it doesn't have one. I exitted boincmgr multiple times by killing the process in task mananger and by just exiting it.
6.6.36 was running just fine until I updated it . The start here faq didn't have a direct answer that's why I started a thread . Was doing seti cuda jobs but stopped. |

Please would you uninstall completely, then reinstall the WCG 6.2.28 version, selecting service+all users to build you up a base CPU crunching client.
----------------------------------------https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadAgain.do use your regular member/password . This version will auto-attach WCG to this client. Let us know how you get on. If things fail, also post the message log from start up point of the new install. All is stored in the stdoutdae.txt file.

Good, it's like at the exams (and ZA proofing it's reputation once more). Often the first answer to a question that pops up is the rightish answer. Please edit your Opening Post title and insert [RESOLVED] as in the sample title of this post.
----------------------------------------happy crunching.
