LHC nuclear scientist charged with terror offences

As we probably all know, LHC also has a grid computing system.

Sorry to say this, but how high the possibilities that someone in WCG, or people working in the projects accepted by WCG, is actually a terrorist? I'm quite afraid here -- I don't want to crunch for terrorism...(though in the article it says "there's no use for the terrorist ends", but who knows?)

And I think, more or less, this probably be the trigger for people to stop participating in grid computing (and I'm no exception). I've quit the LHC work units for some time now, and only do work units from WCG though.

Re: LHC nuclear scientist charged with terror offences

Reminds me of an Octopus.
I dont fancy his chances if they turn it on.

Do you think he is a terrorist?
Do terrorists normally wear Yellow helmets?
Perhaps he is a non-crunching terrorists or he just crunches for the WCG?

I would prefer the French and Swiss gave up on making a black hole, especially if they employ terrorists - who knows what could happen, they might even get it to work!

You know the silvery metal bits between the tentacles look like kitchen sink units with draining boards.

I reckon that things not going to work!

I'm truly astonished you have done this, and that you can think this is a trigger for people to stop participating in grid computing. Or is this some kind of weird joke?!

So, let me get this straight... you think one guy associated with terrorism out of roughly 20,000 people associated with CERN means you think we should abandon grid computing because we *might* be somehow doing highly complex scientific calculations that benefit terrorists?!! I can't even begin to understand how you reached this conclusion.

I have worked at CERN for nearly eight years now, and I can assure you that there is nothing there of any use to terrorism above what you might find in a decent school lab. Well, I lie actually. The LHC is the most deadly beam weapon in existence. Luckily it's quite difficult to steal.

Ha-ha! laughing

Calm down, its only an allegation, and its 20 000 leagues beneath the sea! laughing
Its Leviathan territory down there.

Luke out.

Luckily it's quite difficult to steal.

That sounds like a Scouser challenge.
