Hi.
Joined up yesterday and registered and downloaded the application, installed it and rebooted. It starts fine, it receives data from server, often 4 Mb. Then it just says "Unable to connecto to the Grid Server. Backing-off..." Pretty annoying, i have not got it to work a single time. I am currently sitting behond router so all ports are open for traffic out. I am not using any firewall. All other applications works as they should (some of them that is using ports for incoming praffic, they have ports open in router also). Running XP, SP2. What can i more say, if i donĀ“t get this to work pretty soon, i will abandon this project. |

I got the exact same problem. It's quite annoying and eats up my bandwidth. It downloads over 4Mb of data every time and then gives this message and a pop-up which says that the agent could not connect to the server. Then it adds 1 second to the total CPU time and starts downloading all over again.
Right now I have 12s of total CPU time which means that I have already downloaded over 50Mb of data from the server. Is there any way to eliminate this problem? Pls, answer soon Respect Turgai Azerbaijan |

I sent an email about this problem (I got it too) from the main site to the people at WCG. I hope they respond quickly, because how can you save the world if the app doesn't work!

I had that problem... The program seemed to upload my first results okay, then started alternating these notices...
Trying to come up with a solution or workaround, I right-clicked the system tray icon and clicked "Exit." Then I went into Program Files > WorldCommunityGrid and double-clicked UD.EXE to restart the program. It thereupon ran fine, downloaded the new data properly, incremented my score, and got to work crunching numbers. Then I went back into the Program Files and created a shortcut to UD.EXE on my desktop, for use if the same prob comes up again. |

i was running into the same problem and managed to solve it. Please see thread http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=182 . Providing you have an Athlon64, WINXP/SP2 and DEP activated for ALL programs . Good luck, Peter. |

I had the same problem, however with a different resolution. My system is behind a router. I had to open Ports 80 and 443 in order to allow the software to communicate to its server.
