I am currently running the client on my print server which is Windows. But I do have several Linux servers that are shall we say a little more beefed up.
All I need is a linux client and I could contribute 5 to 10 times more power. Also, is teh client multi threaded? I have several SMP machines. |

[CAVEAT: I am not on the dev team, this is not an official response, so YMMV.]
Give the Grid time to find its feet, keep asking nicely for a Linux port, and it'll probably happen. It'd add fuel to the fire if you are a programmer that is willing to take the time to work with the source and build a few. MS windows is not my OS of choice either, some flavor of Debian client would be quite welcome. It'd be wonderful to have BSD/Linux/Solaris/OS X ports, especially OS X! |

Ironic it seems. IBM touts the use of Linux in there press releases for WCG but yet the client they chose (United Systems) does not support Linux. But hey, to get a market you first go for the "big guy". Hang in there with Linux. If WCG works, I am certain there will be a Linux compatible client ... unless IBM sells there rights to the project first <LOL>

here's a reason: I have Windows only on this work laptop. At home I have four high end workstations, including two Opterons, lots of memory, and can run them as clusters. So, could do at least 8 times more work than now if there is a Linux port.
