And thinking that it will conserve energy is just a cop-out by the American government so they don't have to really do anything significant in an attempt to conserve energy! I guess they are conserving energy by not spending any time thinking of and acting on real concrete steps they can take to conserve energy.....

No kidding -- screwing up the body clock twice a year is absolutely stupid!!! It has always occurred to me that if people want to get up earlier or later than the rest of us, couldn't they just set their alarm clocks? I also don't think the lawmakers even consider the impact of changes like that for people living at latitudes that are further north where the length of daylight periods swings so widely. I hope that your idiots in Otttawa take a firm stand against the change if our idiots in Washington go through with it.

In Arizona they ignore this and keep the clocks the same all year - something about enough sunlight when the average temp is 90 degrees.

Now if you can make the arguement that it effects the amount of snow that falls the northern states would join the revolt. We're with you if it means less shoveling.
