Re: WCG client throughput and optimisation

Here's some data for comparison purposes:

Computer configuration:
Vista Business SP2 32-bit
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 (2.66 GHz)
4 GB DRAM
No overclocking
BOINC 6.2.28
Used only for crunching

Over the past 60 days I have averaged 3.92 days total run time per day on this device. So your initial assertion that you should be averaging nearly 4 days of total run time per day is realistic.

Re: WCG client throughput and optimisation

Behold: the power of ignorance!
I run the WCG 24/7 on one of my comps, but when I view my stats my average run time per calendar day is about 16 hours. Why not 24? Is there something more I can do to crank up performance? More! Moooooooore!

Re: WCG client throughput and optimisation

Looks like you have your preferences set to run using only 60% of your processing power. Go to the Device Profile you are using for that PC and bump it to 100% and I bet you will get really close to the 24 hr day :-)

Re: WCG client throughput and optimisation

Witness the noob. I have cranked all the stats to 100% using Advanced Preferences. They have always been thus, but I still only got 16 hrs of time/day. I just now went to the Device Profile online and set it to "Maximum Output". What's the situation?

Re: WCG client throughput and optimisation

1. Clear the Local Preferences (There's a button for that right top, Advanced menu, Local Preferences)

2. Find in the Max Output prefs profile the option: Do work While computer is in use to confirm it says yes. To see the option details hit the Custom radio button.

3. Make sure that profile is associated to your client in Device Manager (default, home, work, school if created).

4. Make sure to hit update button in the projects tab of BOINC Manager to transfer the new settings from website to client.

5. On the BOINC Manager Activity menu make sure Run always is selected.
