New Users

Anyone notice the huge numbers of new users on Nov. 16 (from 300 -> 700 users)?

Well... I did... and I think the reason is that CNN posted a news article about this, so alot of people read that and decided to join (that's how I joined too).

Just goes to show you that those kind of things actually make a difference....

Re: New Users

I saw it on the british tech website www.theinquirer.net (a pretty good read, not many pretty pictures, however)

Re: New Users

Yeah, I read it off the CNN site, figured i just made a hot new computer, so why not make it useful? I'm also pushing it to as many of my friends as I can, my university requires everyone to have fairly high-end systems so there's a lot of unused CPU power out there.

Re: New Users

I heard about it when someone in another forum (genvibe.com, a forum for Pontiac Vibe) posted about starting up a WCG team.

Re: New Users

I joined after reading an article on it on IBM's intranet news site. IBM has donated the hardware, software, technical services and expertise to build the infrastructure for World Community Grid and provides free hosting, maintenance and support. smile

Re: New Users

FYI - The member count that you see on the website only counts members who have returned at least one result. You can expect to see this number grow faster once everyone starts completing their first work unit.
