I haven't looked at BOINC stats in a while but when I did today, it says that I have 2 team mates - see http://boincstats.com/stats/boinc_user_stats....94408508be3dde29c3105bdbe
----------------------------------------BUT . . . When I go to my team (Gothic), it says I'm all by myself. See http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=W2SGXRKKNV1 Since I don't think that BOINC stats just pulled the names of 2 fellow crunchers out of it's . . . well . . . let's just say I don't think BS is making those names up. So why aren't they showing up on under team Gothic? There is a similarly named team ~gothics~ but I don't think it's the same people eventhough the numbers add up. What's up? edit: It occurred to me that they may have just joined up and so it won't be reflected until tonight, but it seems a little odd that the team would suddenly become so popular (i.e., tripling our membership - W00+) ![]() ![]() |

It is combining teams from non-WCG projects. This is supposed to be helpful.

Team joins and retirements are instantaneously visible in the team member lists, so not sure how they show there and not here even in the joined/retired listing. Then there is the snag of BOINCstats that if one joins a team or moves team, you take the whole lot with you, but only the credits earned while crunching for a team add into the team total.
----------------------------------------Anyway, the BOINCstats for misarus shows only some crunching for Seti, not an existing member at WCG and Khan for SZTAKI. Then Khan at WCG here is not the same member as the one showing in your teamlist at BS. So, looks like you got members from other projects that joined Gothic.

Then again the question is, who joined who's team
----------------------------------------![]() misarus and Kahn both show as not producing at the moment. In fact all the points from misarus on SETI are from 2006. Kahn delivered his last points april 2007. Since you started contributing april 2009 I think in fact you joined their team ![]() Source: http://boincstats.com/search/all_projects.php...94408508be3dde29c3105bdbe [Edit 3 times, last edit by Former Member at Sep 15, 2009 8:34:29 PM] |

The confusion here is about what a "team" is. The team named "Gothic" at SETI has nothing to do with the team named "Gothic" at WCG.
The idea of BOINC-wide teams is a legal fiction, and one that has caused more problems than it ever solved. |

Anticipating an agitated post of someone / anyone complaining that WCG is once again not compliant with the established BOINC principles. ;>).

Thanks Didactylos, Sekerob and Sunnyboy.
----------------------------------------The only other project I participate in is F@H - which has it's own structure. The idea of global team names sounds like a good idea but without a central clearinghouse of some sort, I can't see it being of much use. Thanks for looking into that for me. ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by twilyth at Sep 15, 2009 9:05:27 PM] |
