----------------------------------------No, the data from WCG projects is public, is REQUIRED to be public and NOT patentable. I'm a world citizen hoping to help anyone anywhere in the world, the mission here being to first of all get the data assembled, for most of this research would otherwise never have been done at all.

Do you mean the Chinese scientists are also able to share the results?

First, scientific papers are published in a peer-reviewed journal. Then the database with the results is made publicly available on the internet. The information is all in the public domain. This is explained in the sample contract that we sign with each project. Go to http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/projects_showcase/viewSubmitAProposal.do and download the RFP and the RFP Proposal Application. This will give you the details. Lawrence |

Hi, lhw828,
----------------------------------------Any distributed scientific research like F@H or WCG is not directly focus on the medicine formula itself so don't worry about the patent. We contribute to this community for fundemental research, like to build a library for public. We might shorten the time needed to find out some data, but it is still long way to go from theory to medicine. WCG can't accomplish that alone. For giant pharmaceutical factories like pfizer and wyeth, I believe they will continue to protect their profit with lots of patents in many kind of ways. That is beyond our reach no matter with or without WCG community. However, I do believe our contribution provide stepping stones for the future.
