I checked in on this workunit yesterday but failed to post here. Unfortunately, the workunit had already been deleted from the database so I cannot look at what happened with the workunit.

I just had one other with very little credits granted compared to claimed.
----------------------------------------Not as much as last time, but nevertheless: HFCC_ s1_ 00868208_ s1_ 0000_ 0-- 610 Valid 01.12.09 17:08:12 02.12.09 19:22:22 2.88 69.9 / 21.2 I dunno whether it helps, but here's the link: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/devi...Log.do?resultId=277548132 And the stderr_txt: <core_client_version>6.10.17</core_client_version> |

The way that the credit is determined is that for HFCC (and actually for FAAH as well) is that a 'mini' benchmark is run at the start of the workunit. If the performance during that run is unusually fast compared to rest of the workunit, your credit will be lowered. We will take a look and see if some 'sanity' checks need to be put into place to prevent excessive differences from being reported (as you have seen twice now). Overall, the mechanism works quite well. However, that doesn't mean that there aren't some occasional issues.
thanks for posting |

There I was hoping these mini's run at the same priority as the client's benchmark itself i.e. at low priority to best measure prospective tasks processing performance. Yes, plz put in some sanity checks. thanks

It's not that often, it has only been four times with my last 390 WUs.
----------------------------------------The only times it happened the other way around (but not that much) was for CMD and Rice. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Saenger at Dec 4, 2009 5:09:51 PM] |

We will not take any action on this at this time. We are instead working with BOINC to first update our server to the last code, and then look at using the new credit policies that are being developed. This should improve the situation across all applications(projects) at WCG. This will be done during Jan/Feb.

Will that require client changes or are data code bases independent?

No, as the mix of client versions is just too great, so it's exclusively server/project side implementation, where the accounting is done and running device histories are kept.
