Re: Increase in runtimes

This morning the mean run time per job hit 4.53 hours, much faster than anticipated. France kicking up must have swallowed up all the short jobs in the feeders. Will it stop there or are there now more jobs that manage to hit the 60%+ of content at 6 hour mark and running to the end, the overall mean being further pushed up?

This last question about jobs getting past 6 hour mark is unknown. The grid has been pulling in the new parent jobs the past week and many of them are returning within the normal time. I'm going to venture out to say that this may go up a little more and then down and level off when the children and grand children work units are pulled in. But again, speculation and estimations...take what you can from them :)

At the moment do not know what the last batch is. Seen 64 in a client queue.

Sek, Are you asking what the last batch for the project is? 2467 is the last known batch at this time. But remember the later batches are not as difficult as the early batches...So...can't say 64/2467 is the progress...

Re: Increase in runtimes

Omitted a few words... Seen 64 in a client queue as the latest batch in circulation.

Whenever I see a number I enter that as a value for printing in the chart right bottom where it now says 62 of 2467. It's more current than what's on the official progress page where it now says 14+11.

edit: Take that back, just updated
Statistics updated on September 1st : 1.86%. 19 full and 13 incomplete batches.

Re: Increase in runtimes

Batch 64 was the latest batch with 65 coming soon.

The researchers only know what has been returned. Generally it takes about 30-40 days for a batch to complete...So they're a few days behind you Sek :)

Maybe it's just me, but I still haven't seen anything beyond 64. Normally we seem to blast through a batch (or whatever you call this grouping) in a couple days - even after the switch to the longer units. Is there something else going on? We're still completing about 100,000/day, so I don't think it could be attributed to slowdown.

Re: Increase in runtimes

See post by Nico B. He's published a stacked bar chart showing the positions in each batch and how much he's not yet received from WCG. The are some serious high bars in there to include 63-65

Re: Increase in runtimes

Thanks for that! I've never seen that page, but that explains a lot! Looks like we're in for a bigger spike just down the road. I better sharpen the teeth on my crunchers.

Re: Increase in runtimes

In offset, the further we get into the project the lighter the positions become. One of the reasons it was deemed save to increase the initial run times from 4 to 6 hours.

I think the other page there is also quite illustritive of the progress of the project also.
