Cool... we all need clean water :)

My main computer's hard drive took a dump early this morning. I haven't reinstalled WCG yet as I'm trying to recover the data from the ProgramData folder. And that's the reason we're suppose to backup files.(Not that I do either) ![]() ![]() |

I use Carbonite and had all of my critical data backed up. The ProgramData folder, where the BOINC data is stored, wasn't being backed up, however. I was able to get my old drive stable enough to recover the BOINC data, so I'm back up and running. By the way, Carbonite restoration is a nightmare!
----------------------------------------I had been doing regular images of my main hard drive but it turns out that the images were corrupted and I was unable to restore anything from them. I was using Macrium Reflect to create the images. I thought I had it set up to verify the image after creating, but apparently that wasn't the case. I wish the program had warned me that the images were possibly corrupted. Oh well, live and learn. I'll be coming up with a different solution once everything is back to normal. |

There is two kind of people. Those who do backup and those who never had a hard disk failure.

Thanks for the charts. I find this very useful in charting my progress:

Welcome! Here are some charts to help describe who you're getting mixed up with.
First, this chart gives us a breakdown of where we focused our cycles in March. ![]() Next is this chart which shows us our daily average points and CPU time. Remember last month when I said February was dominant? Look at how March dwarfs it. March literally broke the scale. ![]() Here we see how March's totals stack up to previous months. Points do go way up, some of that aided by the points adjustment which took place. Still, March was record setting for Points, Run Time, and Results. February had a runtime of 39.4 Years. March beat that by nearly 5 Years with 44.1 Years! ![]() Finally, here is the progress we've made so far in 2012. We're comfortably between 2008 and 2009 levels of Points and Results production, while still 70 years below 2007 Runtime. Talk about efficiency! ![]() Crunch on! |
