For WCG consideration:
http://www.amd.com/US/PRODUCTS/TECHNOLOGIES/S...es/stream-technology.aspx "ATI Stream technology is a set of advanced hardware and software technologies that enable AMD graphics processors (GPU), working in concert with the system’s central processor (CPU), to accelerate many applications beyond just graphics. This enables better balanced platforms capable of running demanding computing tasks faster than ever." |

Hi Saul,
----------------------------------------look for other posts on OpenCL, as only when that is functional and BOINC is ready to also support ATI cards, will there be any motivation of making an actual move. Presently it's just brewing plans. ciao

Since I can't modify the previous thread I'll have to re-post.
http://forums.amd.com/devforum/messageview.cf...d=95060&enterthread=y this is a FAQ about ATI Stream technology, questions like What is stream computing? How does stream computing differ from computation on the CPU? What are AMD's stream computing product features? What are AMD's stream computing product advantages? are answered here. |

OK I'll check it out.
----------------------------------------Edit: OK, I checked it out and ATI Stream technology is the right platform for OpenCL. OpenCL is the way to go, so take notes WCG people. OpenCL: (Open Computing Language) is a framework for writing programs that execute across heterogeneous platforms consisting of CPUs, GPUs, and other processors. ![]() OpenCL Specification Released [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 13, 2009 6:06:27 PM] |

Key words to look for are GPU, CUDA and OpenCL. They all deal with grid computing on Graphical Processor Units i.e. your display card(s).

Boinc 6.10.0 supports ATI, now we just have to wait for it to prove itself WCG standard stable and for them to program a project in openCL. Wouldn't hold my breath, but it means it's definately coming!
