most the high end people are useing more than one computer... i curently have 3 computers running but in the past i had as many as 6 at one time running...

multiple core computers are good as well

i do not recomend overclocking computers though cause if you dont know what your doing you could cause errors in your results

They are HP machines of some sort (not sure the model offhand) No there is no overclock available, but I am going to try and fund 2 large servers for extreme processing

Here are some straightforward things you can do:

1. Set your profile to use 100% of processor time. (Default is 60%.) If this causes the computers' fans to be too noisy, or if the computers are running too hot, then dial it back to an acceptable level. Note that changing this setting will not slow down the students' response time when they are using the computers.

2. Leave the computers on as many hours per day as possible.

3. When you buy new computers, get as many cores per processor as possible. If you have a quad core, you can run four tasks simultaneously. If you get an Intel i7 quad core, you can run eight tasks at the same time, because each core is multithreaded.
