...and Help Fight Childhood Cancer workunits for that matter.
----------------------------------------We have 3000+ active device installations and we've only returned 2 results for HFCC & 5 results for CEP. Is there a reason why this is happening? Is there anything I can do to "fix" it? ![]() |

Hi,
----------------------------------------For CEP it's the very low weight of the project due to resource issues at the server side. About 10,000 will validate today. The HFCC I do not quite understand but very possibly the bulk is taken by 'preferred' profile crunchers i.e. if e.g. 90% is taken up by them, very few will be left in the general pool. At any rate it looks like there are about 60,000 validating today out of the total WCG for today of probably 440,000, all projects combined. What you can do? Well with 3000 devices you'd drain the supply for CEP on your own in a day if you would specify this as a primary project. For HFCC don't no if more can be put into the feeders. Send mail to support@worldcommunitygrid.org and see if they can pipe a bunch extra in your direction. cheers

Hello marist_college,
Statistics - By Projects - (project) lets you see how many results were returned yesterday for each project. Lawrence |

What you can do? Well with 3000 devices you'd drain the supply for CEP on your own in a day if you would specify this as a primary project. You could also affect a different profile to a smaller set of machines and then try a more exclusive selection of your "orphan" projects for this profile, e.g. HFCC, CEP, IADS and HCMD2. This way you would be able to have more flexibility on the projects you want to crunch without throwing all your weight in the balancing mechanism of the servers and without risking to have all your machines getting dry if your choice is too exclusive. Another option is to set your current profile to the same orphan projects only, with the "send me other work" box checked. This way you will still receive less WUs of these projects than for the others, but you should get more than now because your priority for these projects will be higher than when all projects are selected. Cheers. Jean. |

Thats the way I would do it otherwise you would /could consume all the CEP, etc for that day with all the computers you control. The point is to crunch and even if you consumed all it still gets done but others working on the project, now left "empty" might be disapointed!

marist_college,
You currently have the following results assigned:
Your project selections indicate support of all projects. DDDT has a low number because it is almost complete (for phase 1) and no new work is being distributed. The Clean Energy Project is running at very low speed due to the very large files involved. So those make sense. HCMD2 has more assigned the then the others because that project sends more workunits then the others because each workunit is much shorter then the other projects. Rice and Flu1 look low relatively - I cannot explain that. It is worth noting that I first took a look at your settings last night and at that time you had the following distribution:
Note that CEP1, HCMD2, HFCC and FLU1 were really low in comparison to today's value. My suspicion is that since the projects you weren't receiving work for were our four newest projects (cep1, hfcc, flu1 and hcmd2) is that you did not have the auto opted in option set to yes in the database. Thus as new projects were added, you did not have them automatically added to your profile. Now that your settings have been updated, you are seeing work for those projects (as you can see by the difference between the two snapshots). Unfortunately, I cannot go back and verify if my suspicion is correct. The good news is that now that your settings are confirmed to be correct now - you are seeing work be sent out more evenly. |

Rice and Flu1 look low relatively - I cannot explain that. It is the same at WCG level as a look at projects statistics can confirm. Does your statement mean that this is not wanted by WCG techs? I believed it was... ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by JmBoullier at Aug 5, 2009 8:24:08 AM] |

Rice has a known supply crunch. Thought at one point in time that FLU and DDDT were weighted together since run for the same science group? Today it looks like < 7% of total WCG collective computing power.

yes - you both are correct. I eyeballed it and felt like those two projects were underrepresented relative to their current weight on the grid. However, they are actually spot on so it is as you say - correct.
DDDT and FLU1 are managed as separate applications and have their own weighting - with the constraint that there was one location able to absorb the results as they came in. There continue to be some constraints for flu1 relative to the power of the volunteers contribution so flu1 will continue to be under-weighted even though dddt has finished. |
