I went to the march in Washington yesterday. It was mobs of people as far as the eye could see and a lot of young people i was happy to see.We made a lot of noise--its the first time i have ever protested anything but we have to counter attack that Marxist communist that's been elected or is it fascist socialist? im not sure but i think they are trying to destroy this country as we know it

I agree Gerald. It is insane to spend like a drunk sailor on shore leave and think you are responsible. Perhaps they don't even think they are... anyway. Everyone have a geat evening.

Aquiet day in terms of milestones but still an active one nevertheless. A good one for a weekend day. We're doing well on points each day and we just might be slowly making our way back to that 40 mark for daily actives. It's a good trend as summer nears an end, despite its last few flickers of heat. With fall here in the north and spring in the south, it's time to keep the pedal to the metal! For anyone following our performances in the various challenges, we range from 7th to 2nd, not counting the increase challenges.
----------------------------------------EDIT: Not so quiet after all. Gerald should have been recognized for reaching 36,000,000 points. Fixed. See my later post on this . ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by keithhenry at Sep 15, 2009 2:18:25 AM] |

I went to the march in Washington yesterday. It was mobs of people as far as the eye could see and a lot of young people i was happy to see.We made a lot of noise--its the first time i have ever protested anything but we have to counter attack that Marxist communist that's been elected or is it fascist socialist? im not sure but i think they are trying to destroy this country as we know it Good for you Gerald. Whatever side of the aisle one sits on, making your position known is always good. Of course, the best place for that is always at the ballot box. The bigger the turnout there, the better, no matter the outcome as too few have made themselves heard there in recent times. I don't care for the divisiveness but it's actually been worse in this country's history. The Andrew Jackson-John Quincy Adams contest in the early 1800's was downright viscious, even by todays terms. The dirt of that campaign was quite personal and scandalous for the times. The fact that Jackson won the popular vote but failed to get a majority of the Electoral College threw the election into the House of Representatives who choose Adams. Adam's choice of the #3 finisher as his Sec. of State (the then normal path to the Presidency in the next election) led to equally viscious charges of corruption and a bought election. As for the spending these days, it's not unlike that of the 1930's here in the US. The scary part is that over a decade after the crash of '29, it took a world war to truly end the depression. It was big business that really got us into this mess. I'm not sure the stimulus has been all that effective but I think things would be even worse without it. It's all too true though that we all have to pay the piper in time. Us regular folks are learning a painful lesson from this recession and I doubt we'll see consumer spending anything like it's been in the past. We've seen the "man behind the curtain" and it will be a while before we believe the con of easy credit like we did in the past. We've had a very painful dose of financial reality lately and Washington will have to face it too sooner or later whether it wants to or not. |
