I think I might have afew WU's in the middle of my cache that might be late. Is it better to abort them now or let them run and return late?
----------------------------------------I've got about 46 WU's worth a later date that should finish on time. Thanks in advance. edit: spelling ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by PecosRiverM at Jul 27, 2009 8:04:50 PM] |

Hi
----------------------------------------just my opinion based on experiences. If you have WU's started and crunching, delayed at most 1 or 2 days, with perspective to be finish at most tomorrow morning, I guess that is better continue crunching this ones. No guarantees that you can get credits/points/time for this jobs... specially if new replica autiomatically sent by servers are finished before you return it. And I think that is better abort the other ones not started if are delayed or if you have sure that will became delayed at determined time in the future of your machine crunch work (maybe your boinc manager are showing to you the message to consider abort it...). If you decides abor itt, be aware that you could reach the daily quota of WU's and became blocked for few hours to receive new others. Up to you. ![]()

I've got 28 WU's due on the 29th. I've started the first 4 at 3p the 27th. It's going to be close since this quad does about 20 daily.

Does BOINC consider that there's enough time - i.e., are any of your jobs running in 'High Priority' mode?

Yes they are running "High Priority" Okay, and how many WU's have you to suspend, before you get 1 WU processing in 'Normal Priority' status? Quite often, if it's just 1 or 2 WU's that you suspend, then, in my experience, they may just get through in the nick of time. If it's a lot, then it might be worthwhile considering aborting some. Also, there's been no mention as to which projects these WU's are in relation to - i.e., as to whether they're single quorum or multi-quorum projects, or even, as to whether they're all for the same project - and, if relevant, as to what your wingmen have done... That may also add something else into your decision making process. Furthermore, if you're 'Badge hunting', then that may also play a part in your decision making process as to whether to chance it and hope that your machine can crunch them in time, or kill some - and thus, which ones to kill... ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Jul 27, 2009 10:03:23 PM] |

I've got 28 WU's due on the 29th. I've started the first 4 at 3p the 27th. It's going to be close since this quad does about 20 daily. It depends at which time the latest ones are due on the 29th... If you need these WUs for completing your Emerald DDDT badge, let them run and hope that they will be reported before the replacement WUs are back. Otherwise you may abort a few right now. That will avoid superfluous redundancy and that will give some relief to your cache. I hope you are not filling your cache so much under normal circumstances... Jean. |

I hope you are not filling your cache so much under normal circumstances... Jean. I usually run with 3dys(internet goes down sometimes). I think the problem was when the WU's went from 4hrs to 4.5hrs ea ![]() |
