Thanks everybody for the comments.
----------------------------------------I've just set the default for 60% while idle, and on the machines that can run 100% I've set this as local settings. On two machines I've also noticed installation problems. The BOINC service wouldn't start. These were machines with a Dutch version of Windows XP and initially I thought it was a language problem, but then I installed some more machines successfully, some of which also had a Dutch language OS... Unfortunately one of these problem machines is a quite powerful machine used for Autocad drawings, that could probably run 100% all the time without too much fan noise... Oh well, can't have everything :)
