sad Running, high priority?

What exactly does this mean? It just started this past weekend on my quad-core AMD machine. Settings are:
while computer is in use: checked
on mutiprocessor systems, use: 100%
use at most: 60% of CPU time
use at most: 50% (of memory) when computer is in use
use at most: 75% (of memory) when computer is idle

I have also tried lowering CPU to 25% time and setting memory usage down to 25%. All four cores show "running, high priority" even when I am doing other things, even when I have a defragger running while I download and play a game (just an example).

Is this something new? Normal?

edit: I'm running 6.2.28 on Vista 64

Re: Running, high priority?

It's nothing new, and it is not about the priority of your WUs versus other tasks in your machine, it is about the priority of these particular WUs versus other WUs in your client's queue.
Therefore decreasing the CPU time percentage from 100 % to 25 % is making things four time worse. Boinc "thinks" that these tasks might not be completed in time.

If these high priority WUs are not "rush" jobs with a shorter deadline you probably have queued too many days of work and the scheduler is a little worried.

First, set the percentage of CPU time back to 100 %, next let a few tasks complete and see if things are going better. These yoyo effects on the estimated duration of queued tasks are not exceptional on multicore machines.

Jean.

Re: Running, high priority?

Thanks! The WU's weren't due until 7-14, so I'm not sure why they changed to high priority. Soon as they finished the next ones are back to "running". I also set CPU back to 100% (when idle) per your suggestion.

Re: Running, high priority?

That was a typo. It should have said they were due 7-24.
