Let's see if we can smoke test WCG's new servers!
----------------------------------------Challenge Name: Smoke Test WCG's New Servers Start Date: 7/24/09 End Date: 7/26/09 Created By: BOINCstats Open Challenge? Yes Challenge Type: Points Late Entrants Allowed? Yes Challenge Project: All Projects ![]() This post at WCG was the inspiration for the first WCG Cruncher sponsored by Team BOINCstats: Current daily records to break The current record for the number of results is still 485,097 results validated on the "old" servers on Monday February 18, 2008. The current record on the new servers is 470,098 results validated on Tuesday June 23, 2009. Link . . . a three day weekend cruncher, after the PG Challenge and before the August SIMAP Scramble. Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy - Phase 2 is the subproject to crunch, especially in 64-bit. ![]() [Edit 4 times, last edit by Sid2 at Jul 15, 2009 7:30:35 PM] |

For the rankings of your team you have to deliver the results after the 24th of July 00:00 UTC and before the 27th of July 00:00 UTC. The results should be valid. So eventually wingman should report also in time. To break the record we could make a run-up like a long-jumper and crunch a few days in advance and report all the work on the 26th of July. ![]() |

Ah, talking about what we term MegaFlush which has been coined & copyrighted by my team (so says lore). The scouts-honor rule is if part of a challenge, race etc, to not buffer work prior to the event i.e. clean slate start. Best is probably to run the zero redundancy projects (FAAH, DDDT, HFCC, FLU) and start running them now so as the servers learn about the device reliability. That will set the base for none or few passing via the inconclusive/pending revalidation channel. OTOH, with HCMD2 you get the most results, project average about 2.95 CPU hours this moment.
----------------------------------------Thus, good luck in the smoking. I'll be looking for skill in generating rings & squares, narrow and wide, such as these ;>)

I've tried to sell the challenge product often enough, but no one wants it at home... we make it afterall. Whilst promoting participation for fun, it usually ends up in a Stampede (another coined and copyrighted crunching term), like we already had a full 30 day one in April, almost quadrupling the score for some days, so it's not fair to bring this to the smokers market place and spoil it for other contenders of top spot [gloat]. Yesterday we did 3,840 results and are still on 1.6 times pre-Stampede throughput in points... but I'm game... the organizing captain can send an invitation to my team captain and see if the crew can be hooked.

Only 12 hours to the start of the Smoke Test WCG's New Servers Crunchathon.
----------------------------------------If your team wants to join this challenge from the very beginning: sign in now. During three days we not only want to find out which team is the "SUPER BLOWER", but we also want to break one or more all time WCG records. Everyone, joining a team or not, can join us to this challenge without signing in to the Crunchation itself. First goal is to break the daily number of results. To achieve this: the Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy - Phase 2 project has the shortest runtimes at the moment. Because the quorum of two and only validated results are counted, we can use the first two days to warm up the fire, so that on the 26th of July most returning results will be validated directly. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Crystal Pellet at Jul 23, 2009 12:07:55 PM] |

Emergency recovery crews in Toronto, Austin and other undisclosed locations are on standby, the different scenarios simulated to ensure nothing was missed and several days work held on hand in case you go overboard. Make sure to have the alternate work option ticked in case the chosen fav project runs dry.
----------------------------------------Enjoy. added: yes, there's a chart for allot more ;>) ![]()
