Re: New Help Conquer Cancer Badges

I am still have to look into getting 3 cards in one machine to work in Linux yet for projects like this.

Got any tips for a noob on getting ATI drivers to install and work in Linux ?

I'm mostly a noob myself on this front. I have tried Linux Mint 13.1 for the installs I have done. I have 3 machines that I have tried this on that were crunching at WCG. I did the updates on my machines before adding the drivers. I believe one of mine works with the drivers found in the restricted drivers. Then there was the issue of BOINC starting before all the drivers were loaded and needing restarted. I may have followed a few different guides from Google searches.

Re: New Help Conquer Cancer Badges

I believe that I have enough in PV and in the cache to get a double sapphire. I can let the excess go if it is needed. I'll know in about 3 days.

Cheers coffee

I need 6.95 hours more, so I released 1 more WU into my cruncher from the cache. I aborted the last 6 WUs I was holding in the other 2 of my 3 crunchers, so hopefully those still trying to reach a goal grabbed them. The estimate for the last WU I'm crunching is 7 hours so I'll see how long it actually runs. Otherwise I have 15 more to toss back like candy from a pinata. dancing

Cheers coffee

Re: New Help Conquer Cancer Badges

I have finally got my first Emerald, thanks to the arrival of my new i7 on Monday, just in time to pick up almost the last units.

However, I misjudged the timing due to the large number of Pending Validation units and seem to have done about 31 hours over the top. However, I have released the remainder in case there are people struggling to finish a badge.

I see that they are prioritising the smaller machines by limiting any resends to 5 per day per machine.

Re: New Help Conquer Cancer Badges

Only 32 days left to get my Sapphire badge and the Help Conquer Cancer project project suddenly comes to an end.

I hope I have better luck with the Human Proteome project. I also trying to make Sapphire for that one as well...

Thanks you guys for thinking of others.

Re: New Help Conquer Cancer Badges

I reached 13 years on this project, my biggest contribution to WCG. If we only had more badges wink

Re: New Help Conquer Cancer Badges

I am almost going to hit the Sapphire (my first), but it looks like I may come up short by a single day, two at most. Since I saw the announcement of time running out in early April, I've gone exclusively to HCC on both machines (1 a lowly laptop, so CPU only) in an attempt to hit that first 2 year mark. Once it's officially over, I'll go back to crunching on all the other worthy projects in hopes of making small contributions toward their cures. Is there anyplace on WCG that they post the remaining time estimates regularly? I saw a chart one Cruncher made (I think it was made by a Cruncher, and wasn't an official WCG chart anyway) one time, but have never been able to find that again - despite running searches of every combo of terms that came to mind.

I've really enjoyed crunching for cancer research, as I see many here are doing so, in memory of friends/relatives that everyone has lost to the dread disease. I have lost too many family members to cancer now, and since I'm nowhere near smart enough to solve it, I'm thrilled to have found this site, and have had the opportunity to help search for a cure in some small way. I'm amazed by the members I see here that have contributed huge numbers of years on these projects. I wish I had the funds or computing power to make larger contributions in any manner, but am gratified to be a part of something like this. It's an amazing honor to think my two years might go to a project that helps, and can only imagine the gratification those that have the big numbers must get from contributing so much computing power (and electricity -even my small contribution has my power company thinking I must run a grow operation in my basement). I pray that one day the answer and cure will be found, and everyone contributing to projects like these makes solving it and the many diseases worked on through this site much more likely. I offer a salute to you all, Bill

bill4trade,
I missed getting a Genome Comparison bronze badge by two hours so I can understand your angst.
Try looking here for the chart you are looking for. Dashboard.

Thank you very much Deltavee! That is a perfect chart. I've bookmarked it so I'll be able to find it again.
