I'm having a problem with the last download from this project. It has processed 9.7% but is no longer working despite CPU time still clocking up. I have tried uninstalling the software and then dowloading again but the problem remains. Has anybody had this problem? Have you any ideas on how to solve it?

Same question, same answer...
----------------------------------------Yes. You might start with posting the beginning of your message log to allow us to know much more about your configuration. It would also be useful to tell us the complete name of the apparently stuck work unit (WU) and how long it has been stuck at 9.7 %. Each HCMD2 WU consists of several different computations that we call "positions". Beta tests have revealed that some positions may be extremely tough to compute and during that time the percentage does not move while the runtime is obviously going on. This is just normal. Until now more than 5 million HCMD2 WUs have been returned with no real case of a looping WU reported yet. But some have been good at looking like looping... So please allow us to learn more about your particular case and we will see if you have found the first case Cheers. Jean. PS: Please avoid double posting in the future. |

Hello richardcyb,
I do not have any ideas, so start off by rebooting if nothing is happening. Lawrence |

12/07/2009 14:08:26|World Community Grid|Restarting task CMD2_0017-MYH1.clustersOccur-MYH2A.clustersOccur_1517_0 using hcmd2 version 614 There is no activity when I view project graphics . There seem to be very tough positions to compute for the association of these two molecules MYH1 and MYH2. I have already got child WUs for them with less than 100 positions to compute. I have seen my quad spending 10 minutes on the same position and even, later in the process, going back on some others (the percentage is going back to a previous value). All this is normal so far. You have not said how long you have seen this WU stuck at 9.7 %. Your machine is not one of these overclocked racing crunchers that some members like to develop, therefore I would not worry before at least one hour on the same position. And when it finally passes this step, if the total runtime has reached 4 hours this WU will end gracefully, whatever the percentage reached at this time. Regarding the graphics, when you start them they will not show any activity until the current position is complete, so if they were not already started before reaching 9.7 % (I don't know) they will not show anything. One last question, have you looked at the task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc, Process tab) to make sure that you have no other process eating much of the CPU power? Read you later. Jean. |

I'm pleased to say the WU is working this morning so what caused it to stop processing untill today is a mystery.
Best wishes, Richard |
