It's not a competition or a vote, folks.
If JP wants this, it's up to him now. |

If Jean Pierre (or anyone) wants to be a CA, all they need to do is start doing the job. Currently, Jean Pierre seems to be mostly active in the team threads and chat room. I think we all enjoy his contribution. Jean Pierre, if you want to start answering questions and helping new members as well, go for it. I know you do this occassionally anyway. Agree. I like JP just like anyone else, but Didactylos is right. And it is earned, not handed upon popularity. So, JP, get out there and in time, I am sure your investment will pay off. :-) ![]() |

You're absolutely right Diana. It's not a popularity contest but many of the qualities of an effective CA are qualities people like. What got this whole line of thought started in my mind was realizing that, for a global project, all of our CAs looked to be European or North American based. While CAs don't work for WCG in the "employee" sense, they do represent it and often provide a user's initial impression of the WCG administration. Shouldn't our CAs be global too? In my mind, an effective CA doesn't have to be the expert in PCs who can speak in binary and designs machines for fun. They need to be committed to the WCG project, be willing to help their fellow crunchers, have the time to do so, and do so fairly, tolerantly, and with understanding of the diversity of our crunchers around the world. For me, I saw those qualities in JP. That and the fact that his addition would expand our CA ranks to Latin America led me to raise the question with him and to start this thread. CA rank is not only something one earns both before and after it is obtained, it should also be something that is cultivated to the benefit of WCG.

I'm not sure if my vote counts while I am not contributing time to any project, but if it does, then Jean Pierre certainly gets my vote!
