Hello guys,
I updated my BOING Agent to the version 6.6.36 and something strange apparead. A dialog window says: "Communicating with BOINC client. Please wait..." I have also 2 buttons available: "Exit BOINC" and "Cancel" I've been waiting for hours but nothing changed! The window is still there. Can someone explain what is happening? There's any port that needs to be unlocked on my firewall in order to let the program to communicate? Another problem I noticed with this new version is related to a double istance of the program during Windows startup. Anyway, this issue seems to be automatically solved by the program itself. I'm looking forward to receiving more information Thank you all! Will |

You did what you had to do and now the eggs are hard boiled. Yes that's a new screen when the front end GUI tries to connect to the back end core client (BOINC.exe). Is that running? It's a protected service, so you need admin sometimes to see it in the task manager.

Nothing has changed between whatever version you came from and 6.6.36, but it supposedly working smoother, causing less failed tasks due hangs and heartbeat issues. What did change was the data_dir location. That area you best exclude from Antivirus scanning.
----------------------------------------As for "There's any port that needs to be unlocked on my firewall in order to let the program to communicate?", see help and FAQ's what you can set in firewall. Localhost, Port 80, 443, 31416, plus I've locked BOINC to only be able to talk to the project IPs, not even to Berkeley.
