HCMD phase 2 is around a month old.

Phase 1 was around way before that.

Re: Getting more users.

personaly word of mouth has always been the best way to get the word out about projects like this ..

most people will listen to a friend/ co worker more than they will a telethon..

mind ya the telethon and such also sounds like a great idea.. but everything costs money

Re: Getting more users.

Many give money to the telethon and others , here is not just a matter of keep asking all the time for badges

Not talking about anybody in particular

Tks

One place that I rarely find any mention of BOINC and distributed computing are on the tech sites, imagine the traffic that could be created if Tom's Hardware would use BOINC projects as a benchmark for tests.

Re: Getting more users.

nasher makes a good point.
I convinced like 6 of my friends to get on, get on my team, and keep on trucking biggrin
Word of mouth is much less likely to scare them away.

Re: Getting more users.

I recently read at the net that WCG are amongst the top five supercomputers. I would like to see a kind of ''bar tool'' with info on the top ten supercomputers and how much they are processing. Maybe that could increase WCG members.

Out of the graph it seems to me as it is exponetial growth. In the same way as Moore's law. Right? Are there other graphs? How many petaflops are processed taking one example?

Why make the same question over and over again in different threads

Re: Getting more users.

Hi,

I've been Crunching for a while now and have clocked up a couple of years using BOINC mostly doing WCG work. I also clocked up a couple with the late and troublesome UD/Grid.org

My Suggestion and or Question is how to find a way of adding a concise and encouraging SIGNATURE to my E-mails. Any ideas ? I feel that this is the best way to get the message out there.

I could make a 'Sig' but feel that a better job could be done by others who know more about the best links and stat's to get people on board.

I also wonder if the WIGIT's are working as they should ? I have a short message with Link and a WIGIT on my website http://www.bigskeff.com but it doesn't seem to update the numbers as it should, see below:
<a href="http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/index.jsp"> CHECK THIS OUT</a> - It can run projects that benefit
humanity by making use of the time your computer is turned on, but idle.
The WIGIT (below) is set to show GLOBAL STATS, RUN TIME & PROJECT LIST but misses out RUN TIME:
<iframe src="http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/getDynamicI...ue&special=true" frameborder="0" name="di" scrolling="no" width="140px" height="268px"></iframe>

Any help appreciated.

I still think a really snappy signature at the bottom of all the members E-mails would do a great job.

James

p.s. Big Hi to all the UD refugees out there.
